AEROS TIE GAME IN NINTH, LOSE IN TENTH
Dittler Gives Up Just One Earned Run Through Seven
Tyler Von Schell's game-winning single to drive in Randy Walter in the 10th inning sent the Navigators to a 4-3 win over the Aeros on Wednesday afternoon in Norwich.
Akron overcame a late-inning Navigators lead for the third straight game, as Ivan Ochoa's RBI single in the ninth inning tied the game at 3-3. But Norwich was able to pull out a win when Walter came around after reaching on a leadoff walk from Kyle Evans (0-1) in the 10th.
Julian Benavidez doubled in Anthony Labarbera in the sixth inning to give Norwich starter Chris Begg a 3-2 lead. Begg tossed seven innings in a no-decision, with the only runs off him coming in the first inning.
In the Aeros first against Begg, Franklin Gutierrez singled in a run and came around on Jason Cooper's run-scoring double. The Navigators tied it up at 2-2 off Akron starter Jake Dittler when Von Schell plated Brian Buscher on a sac fly.
Walter scored Norwich's first run on Akron second baseman Jose Morban's fielding error.
William Sadler (1-1) retired two batters in the top of the 10th for the win.
Dittler gave up one earned run in his seven innings for Akron.
The two teams switch sides of the field as Akron hosts Norwich for three games beginning 7.05 p.m. ET on Friday.
