AEROS DROP FIRST TWO GAMES OF '08
It's been a little over 48 hours since the Senators and Akron Aeros started their season on Thursday night.
The Senators won the continuation of the opener 8-5 on a three-run walk-off home run by Luis Jimenez and then used some patient at bats and three two-run home runs to win the "night cap" by the same 8-5.
Arnie Munoz picked up the win in the "opener" pitching a perfect 10th inning while Beltran Perez picked up the win in the night cap with Jim Ed Warden earning his first save of the season.
In the regularly scheduled game, the Sens fell behind 4-1 in the top of the third inning, but pulled even quickly thanks to the long ball.
After scoring an unearned run in the bottom of the third, Luke Montz tied the game in the last of the fourth with a two-run home run. In the fifth, Yurendell Decaster hit a two-run home run to give the Sens a 6-4 lead. After Akron trimmed the lead to 6-5, Luis Jimenez hit a two-run home run in the last of the seventh to account for the final runs of the game.
On Sunday afternoon, the Senators send RHP Josh Hall to the mound against RHP Frank Hermann of the Aeros as the Sens go for a three-game sweep. Game time on Sunday is 1:05 p.m.
